Who and Where Are the New Kids?

Quick post today but hopefully it's very interactive.

I've tried to keep up with my favorite blogs as best I could during my hiatus but admittedly I wasn't able to read nearly as much as I used to. I missed a few things.

Wallet cards? Cool idea, sorry I missed out.

#Supertraders? I can probably guess what this is but if somebody wanted to give me a synopsis/origin story, I wouldn't object.

Cubs got good? Oh wait, no, I was around for that.

Another thing I've noticed is a few blogs I once followed have petered out as I did. Or maybe they're just on an extended break, again, like I was.

So help a brother out. Get me back in the loop. Who are the new guys in the blogosphere? Say, anyone who popped up within the last year or two. But by all means, if someone has been around longer than that and somehow slipped through the cracks, let me know. Anybody else start a second or third blog?

Things I like to read about whether I collect them or not and in no particular order:
  1. Just about anything to do with the Cubs (games, players, prospects, baseball cards, memorabilia, autographs, etc)
  2. Baseball cards (card show/online pickups, trade packages, new products, old products, niche/mini collections, box breaks, oddballs, specific sets)
  3. Custom baseball cards (original designs, modern players on old classic designs, etc)
  4. Team collectors (I might not care for your specific team, but I always like to see how other people collect their teams)
  5. Autographs (TTM, certified pack pulls, new pickups, in person collecting)
  6. Memorabilia (bobbleheads, Stadium giveaways, other?)
  7. Baseball in general (player discussions, history, trivia)
  8. Wrestling (high school, collegiate, Olympic)
  9. Books/movies/TV (entertain me!)
  10. Other (I'll try most topics on a decent recommendation)
So there you have it. Send me some recommendations. Pimp yourself and your friends.

  1. yeah some bloggers can be a bit loopy. Cubs so damn upset that the NY Muts took the NLEast it should have been my Nationals going head-to-head vs the Cubbies for last years NLCS. Once again it looks like the Muts are going to get ahead of my beloved Nats. But I digress.

I'm not sure who the current New Kids are I am probably following them though. Check some of the folks on my blog's (http://captkirk42.blogspot.com) right hand side bar to see if any of those folks are new.

RE: the Supertraders is a group of team collectors that was assembled by Wes of the Jaybarkerfan's Junk blog http://jaybarkerfan.blogspot.com/
It runs a bit random as far as the packages (and some PWEs) that get sent around. Basically each blogger has snagged his homie baseball team (My Nats were already snagged before I had a chance to think about if I wanted in or not so I am in on my 2nd Homie team the Orioles) and the other bloggers in the group send what they have of that team. A rap sheet uh spreadsheet was set up by Play-at-the-Plate Brian and sent to each member. The Marlins are the only team open as of now. One of the Supertraders is a new blogger, long-time collector follower of something, somewhere.

Hope this adds more confusion or maybe a little clarification.

My Nationals blog Curly W Cards (http://curlywcards.blogspot.com) needs occasional attention, both in readership and in my blogging. heck all my blogging needs more blogging. I have just been achieving my minimum 1 post a month (per blog) for the last 6 months or more.

    1. Thanks for the insight on Supertraders, I was only partially right.

Your two blogs have been on my reading list as the Nats are my local team. I'll take a look at your side bar for some other recs.

    2. I'll be going to a couple Cubs @ Nats games on June 13/14th, any food recommendations at the park?

    3. I'm pretty frugal so I generally hit food carts outside the stadium beforehand but Kirk might have some recommendations. Sealed water bottles and snacks (peanuts, sunflower seeds, etc) are allowed inside.

  2. Welcome back! I'm one of the new guys, also a Cubs collector, Tony B from Wrigley Roster Jenga helped me get into it. You can find me at http://findingtimeforcardboard.blogspot.com... As you'll see by the title, I don't get a lot of time for blogging, but when I do, it's typically to catch up on trades.

  3. One thing you need to know is that we don't call it the blogosphere anymore. That's so 2012. The cool kids call it the cardsphere now. So hop on the trolley, daddy-o.

  4. I sometimes slip up and call it the blogosphere and then I get a fine in the mail a few days later from Gavin.

Highly Subjective and Complete Arbitrary is one of my favorite "newer" blogs. Twins focused. Brian is pretty active and a good trader. http://subjectiveandarbitrary.blogspot.com/
