Jerome Williams

Last, but (probably) not least of the latest ATCRCS cards featuring current Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim players is former Cubs pitcher Jerome Williams. He came to the Cubs from San Francisco in a trade that also brought David Aardsma in exchange for LaTroy Hawkins during the 2005 season.

He had a rough go of it during his time in Chicago but the Cubs themselves weren't better at that time. In 2005, he bested fellow starter Greg Maddux in ERA, the season Maddux failed to win at least 15 games for his 18th consecutive year.

He struggled again in 2006 and after starting 0-2 in 5 appearances, was sent down to AAA Iowa and later claimed off waivers by the Washington Nationals. He later signed as a free agent with the Twins, A's and Dodgers but didn't make another big league appearance until 2011 with the Angels where he has gone back and forth between starting and working the bullpen.

The signature isn't much to look at but it's another one I'm glad to have part of my collection. Some of these guys that only have brief appearances with the Cubs may end up more difficult to obtain than the stars.

This marks card number #51 in the ATCRCS collection!
