2011 Topps Lineage Autograph Reprint Roy Smalley Jr.

Whoops, I got carried away with my 2010 Upper Deck break this weekend that I forgot to publish on Friday and Saturday. Sorry!

I keep putting off picking up any actual vintage so I do kind of appreciate some of the reprint stuff. I didn't buy any Topps Lineage in 2011 but have been slowly adding things over the years as I see them at reasonable prices. I'm done with the base set but still working on the Diamond Anniversary sparkly stuff. And I recently picked up this autograph insert.

Roy Smalley Jr played for the Cubs from 1948-1953. I didn't realize he was a Cub until I started making ATCRCS cards a few years ago, but by that time he had just passed away. When I was growing up, the extent of my knowledge of him was his Father-Son combo card with Roy Smalley III in 1985 Topps. But that card showed him a member of the Milwaukee Braves, which was confusing in itself as at that point, I only knew of the Atlanta Braves. I was six when that set came out, what do you want from me!?

According to my rough estimate, I now have almost 250 different Cubs autographs and this one has me closing in on 100 different certified Cubs autographs. Once I'm done going through my lots, I'll come up with an official count.

2011 Topps Lineage Aramis Ramirez Jersey

I've read of the many different ways people use ebay to build there collections. Personally, when I browse, I always look at the seller's other items when making a choice between a seller A and seller B that have something I want for a similar price. I don't mind doing the extra leg work or paying an extra buck here and there for one item if my overall purchase price will be lower.

Because of that, I mentally upped my bid on the Barney camo card by about $2. Hindsight shows that I wouldn't have won if I had stuck with the bid I originally had in mind but did win with the extra bump. From that same seller I also managed to pick up this Topps Lineage jersey card for $0.99.

Funny how I wouldn't even give it a second look for the $4 it would have cost me by itself with shipping but for $3.28, I'll take it. For those doing the math, I consider buck it cost me, split the $2.00 shipping between the 2 cards for another buck and then take the extra $1.28 it took to win the Barney above my original bid.

Sandberg Sunday - Another Canary

Don't forget to sign up for the Topps Series 2 Box Break!

Last year's Topps saw a 1/1 variation called Canary that was a yellow version of their Diamond Anniversary. I posted about the Ryne Sandberg edition in my first ever edition of Sandberg Sunday.

Well, right after Lineage came out last year, I picked up the Lineage Canary Ryne Sandberg as well. This one was less expensive than the original but still not what I would call cheap. The front has the same picture as the original Topps card although with a slightly different crop. The back has a write-up as opposed the career stats. The 1/1 designation is also on the back of this card as opposed the front of the other.
