Darwin Barney 2012 Topps Team Set

This card is from the 2012 Topps Factory team set. I believe they come out between Series 1 and 2 because the Cubs only had a handful of cards in Series 1 and this was kind of a preview of cards to come in Series 2. When I first saw this card, I thought it was an interesting crop job.

And this was long before I really looked at the cards. Something must be wrong with or blocking his elbow and it was better to just crop it out. And his glove on the right side of the card is chopped off too.

Well then I found the original photo source and was even more surprised.

Not only were his elbow and glove fine, but there was plenty of room and no obstructions!!! Maybe they wanted to give Barney a closeup or showcase that sweaty/salty hat. Seeing that original photo just makes the card look ridiculous to me now. 

At least they changed the photo for the Series 2 release to one of the greatest action cards of the year, if I do say so myself.
