The cover card was this 2016 Bowman card of David Fletcher. It also doubles as the newest card in the pack. Fletcher was a 6th round pick for Angels in 2015. And speaking of Angels...
This was some kind of Angels hot pack as 4 more of the 30 cards were of the California Angels variety. Any Burn Notice fans think of this CHck FInley when Sam Axe gave his undercover name?
We'll stary in California but travel down the coast a bit for the only Hall of Famer in the pack, the Padres' Tony Gwynn.
Best nickname of the pack goes to Skeeter Barnes. I remember him from my high school days outside Detroit. For those curious, his real name is William Henry Barnes.
The oldest card in the pack was a 1983 Topps Alex Trevino where he's laying down a bunt. Primarily a backup catcher, he bounced around quite a bit, playing for six different teams.
So I know this photo is just a snapshot of the whole process, but what kind of pitching form is this?
Last but not least, we have cards with Cubs ties. No actual Cubs though. Lloyd McClendon currently works as the hitting coach for the Detroit Tigers. Dave Clark is is a coworker, coaching third base for the Tigers. Dan Plesac is an analyst for the MLB Network. Steve Buechele is the first base coach for the Texas Rangers. Rod Beck passed away in 2007 but lives on as a fan favorite in several collections.
Kind of a dud this week. Certainly not the best pack I've opened, but it won't stop me from picking up some more.
